Guy Fawkes Night

3. What do they celebrate? Four hundred years ago, in 1605, a man called Guy Fawkes and a group of plotters attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London with barrels of gunpowder. They wanted to kill King James. On the morning of 5^th November, soldiers discovered Guy  Fawkes and arrested him. // ¿Qué se celebra? hace 400 años, en 1605, un hombre llamado Guy fawkes y un grupo de conspiradores intentaron hacer volar las Casas del Parlamento en Londres con barriles llenos de pólvora. Querían asesinar al Rey Jaime. Pero en la mañana del 5de noviembre Guy Fawkes fue descubierto por los soldados del rey  y fue arrestado.

          4. How do they celebrate? In celebration of his survival, King James ordered that the people of England should have a great bonfire on the night on 5^th November. The event is still commemorated annually in England on 5^th November by fireworks and burning ‘guys’  //¿cómo lo celebran? para celebrar que el rey sobrevivió, ordenó que los ciudadanos de Inglaterra lo celebraran con una hoguera en la noche del 5 de noviembre. Este acontecimiento se sigue conmemarando todos los años en Inglaterra cada 5 de noviembre con fuegos artificales y quemando en hogueras muñecos que representan a Guy Fawkes.
